Job: Communications Manager for The Reckoning Project and PIJL

We are announcing a vacancy for the position of Communication Manager for The Reckoning Project and Public Interest Journalism Lab.


The NGO "Public Interest Journalism Lab" researches, creates, and promotes the best forms of socially beneficial journalism in the digital media era.


The Reckoning Project unites Ukrainian and international journalists, lawyers, and analysts with experience in dealing with war crimes in Syria, Bosnia, Chechnya, and Rwanda. In the project, we collect evidence of Russian crimes in Ukraine to build cases for the courts and prepare media projects for Ukrainian and foreign media. The key team of the project is led by Natalia Humeniuk, American war correspondent Janine di Giovanni, and researcher Peter Pomerantsev.

As part of the "Bridging Continents" project, we organize visits to Ukraine by prominent journalists, publishers, and opinion leaders from Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

"Life in War" is a multimedia chronicle of the contemporary history of Ukraine against the backdrop of the Russian-Ukrainian war.


Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of the communication strategy of the Lab and communication plans for the organization's projects in Ukraine.

  • Development and maintenance of ongoing communication with media outlets (online, print, radio, television, etc.).

  • Planning and quality control of visual materials and presentation texts, informational booklets, branded materials.

  • Development of the project's social media presence in line with the communication strategy.

  • Collaboration with international partners of the Lab's projects.

  • Proactive organization of turnkey media events (screenings, presentations, discussions, etc.) in both online and offline formats.

  • Regular content preparation for various platforms and audiences, from press releases to presentation scripts/speeches.

Requirements:

  • Relevant education and at least 4 years of work experience.

  • Ability and willingness to work with information and sensitive topics.

  • Communication skills, responsibility, initiative.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in Ukrainian and fluent in English.

  • Understanding of human rights issues.

  • Experience with social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Telegram).

  • Information analysis and organization skills.

  • Excellent proficiency in office software and digital tools (Office suite, Google Docs, Zoom, cloud services, etc.).

  • A portfolio of completed projects and campaigns will be an advantage.
